Use On The Day

What On The Day is

On The Day is your whole wedding day in one list, in clock order, on the phone in your pocket. Every row is a moment, and the part of the day it belongs to shows as a light colour on the row, so you can see at a glance where you are between getting ready, the ceremony and the party.

Before the day starts

Open On The Day to see the wedding date and the first moment of the day. If any gear is still not packed, a short warning appears with Open Gear Preparation and Continue anyway.

When you are ready, choose Start. Starting also saves the plan as it stands, so timing changes during the day can be compared against it.

Want to practice first? Choose Test run. You can click through the whole day, and everything is cleared again the moment you stop the test. A test run is only available before the day starts, so real progress is never wiped.

Now and next

The card at the top of the list holds the day together. It shows the moment you are in, the moment that comes next with its start time, how many must-have shots are done out of the total with a thin progress strip, and how many moments are done.

The clock decides which moment is Now, so the day follows itself while you shoot. When the day runs off the plan, one small I'm here now button on a moment pins Now to that moment and keeps it there until you choose Back to schedule.

The card also shows the sunset time and a short line about the weather, and in the last hour before sunset it counts down, so you know how much good light is left.

Ticking shots

Every shot can be ticked or unticked at any time, in any order. Nothing has to happen in sequence, and nothing locks.

Open a moment and the must-have shots stand first, with the rest behind n more shots. The big button ticks the first must-have that is still open and says its name, so you can keep shooting and tick with your thumb without reading the screen.

All remaining shots shows every open shot of the day in one list, with a Must-haves only switch when you want the short version.

Family photos

The Family photos moment works differently, because someone is always waiting in front of the camera. The group you are shooting now stands big at the top, Up next shows the group after it so your helper can already gather those people, and the full list sits behind All groups · 4 of 10.

If you move on while groups are still open, the card says so once, with Back to the groups to finish them or Let the family go to accept it and move on.

The day note and Anytime shots

Day note and Anytime shots open straight from the card at the top. Anytime shots are the ones that are not tied to a moment; tick them whenever they happen. Day notes stay in the project and do not send a message to anyone.

Moving through the day

Choose Start next moment when you move on earlier or later than planned. On The Day records the real times and shows how far you are ahead of or behind the plan.

The screen stays awake while the day is live, so the phone does not go dark between shots.

Adjust the timing

Choose Adjust timing when the day runs late or early. Pick which moments should move and change the time in five-minute steps. You see exactly what the change does before it happens, nothing moves until you apply it, and you can undo it afterwards. If a change would run a moment into the next one, On The Day says so and offers to move all later moments along instead.

Pause and start over

Pause leaves the live view. Everything you ticked stays, and the card shows Paused until you choose Resume.

Start over clears every tick and starts the day again at its first moment, after a confirmation. It disappears as soon as you tick your first shot and stays available at the bottom of Day controls. The timeline, the shot list, your notes and the gear are untouched.

Wrap up

Choose Wrap up at the end. You get the same list of the day, filtered down to the shots that are still open, with counts of the must-haves, the nice-to-haves and the anytime shots, so you can catch them before you pack the car.

Every open shot can be marked Not done. It is struck through here and shows as Not done in the Shot List, and ticking it undoes that.

When the Timeline is not ready

If the project has no usable timed Timeline, On The Day shows Build the timeline first and links to Wedding Timeline. Add start times and key locations there.

Working offline

Open the wedding once with an internet connection and it stays usable on that device if you lose signal during the day. Changes you make offline save by themselves as soon as you have signal again. If you open On The Day offline on a device that never loaded the wedding, it says it is not available offline there yet.
