Set account preferences

What this article covers

Account preferences set how Wedding Desk displays pricing, dates, time and tool guidance by default.

What preferences are for

Preferences provide starting settings for new projects. Details you choose inside a project apply only to that wedding.

For example, your default currency starts new projects and the calculator in the right currency. Each project keeps the currency selected when it is created.

Currency and VAT or tax

Choose the currency used for new projects, quotes and packages. Changing the account default does not change existing projects. Choose the number format that matches how you write prices, such as 1.234,56 or 1,234.56. Wedding Desk does not apply an exchange rate or convert existing amounts.

VAT or tax fields help the calculator show tax-related quote information. They do not replace accounting advice or file taxes. Read Currency, VAT and payments in the calculator for details.

Date and time

Date and time preferences control how project dates, deadlines and timeline times are shown. Use the formats you normally use with clients and collaborators.

Steps

  1. Open Preferences.
  2. Review the default currency.
  3. Choose the number format used for prices.
  4. Review VAT mode, VAT rate and VAT label if those fields are shown.
  5. Review booking fee percentage if you use it in pricing.
  6. Review date format, time format and week start settings.
  7. Turn tooltips on or off if that option is shown.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Wait until Saved appears.

What happens after saving

Wedding Desk uses these settings as the starting point for new projects and calculations. Existing projects keep their current currency. Date and time settings change how planning screens, Timeline times and Calendar dates are displayed.

How this connects to other areas

Use Timeline templates when the preference you need is about starter templates or saved timeline templates.

Tips & suggestions

  • Set currency and VAT settings before building serious quotes.
  • Set date and time display before you start checking project schedules with clients.
  • Changing currency never converts an existing amount.
  • Keep tooltips on while learning the app, then turn them off later if you prefer fewer explanations.
