Open timeline template preferences

Wedding Desk is currently in beta. These guides describe the workflows that are available now. Some articles are still being expanded with fuller instructions, screenshots and video.

What this article covers

Timeline template preferences show the timeline templates available to your workspace. Use this area to understand the difference between starter templates and templates you saved yourself.

Starter templates versus your templates

Starter templates are built into Wedding Desk. They are there to help you start common wedding timelines quickly. They are read-only, which means you can use them but not edit the original built-in version.

My templates are timelines you saved from your own projects. Use them when you have a planning structure you want to reuse for future weddings.

Current starter templates

Wedding Desk currently includes these starter timeline templates:

  • Full day with first look: a relaxed full-day flow with portraits before the ceremony. Use this when the couple wants breathing room during cocktail hour.
  • Full day no first look: a traditional aisle-reveal flow with portraits stacked after the ceremony. Use this when the couple does not see each other before the ceremony.
  • Church ceremony: a longer religious ceremony flow with church restrictions, travel and buffer time.
  • Civil ceremony: a compact town hall or simple civil ceremony flow.
  • Half day coverage: an essentials-only timeline for shorter coverage.
  • Multi-location wedding: a travel-heavy day where prep, ceremony, portraits and reception happen across different locations.

For more detail on choosing one, see Start with a timeline template.

Steps

  1. Open Timeline templates from workspace settings.
  2. Review Starter templates.
  3. Review My templates.
  4. Use Rename if one of your templates needs a clearer name.
  5. Use Duplicate if you want a copy before changing a template workflow.
  6. Use Delete only when you no longer need a saved user template.

What happens after you manage a template

Changing your saved templates affects what you can reuse later. It does not automatically rewrite project timelines that already exist.

Tips & suggestions

  • Keep template names practical, such as Full day with first look or Short civil ceremony.
  • Do not save a project-specific timeline as a reusable template until you remove client-specific notes.
  • Use starter templates as a first draft. Always review timing, locations and family photo time after applying one.
